What I Am Fighting For
As a student for the past twelve years in Portland Public Schools (PPS), I have seen and heard the challenges that our students, educators, and families face. Through conversations from my community, Parent Teacher Associations (PTA), and community partners who work with our students, I see the priorities below reflect that. We need leaders who will have the experience of the students when making decisions, involve our community, and hold others accountable.

ABOUT JORGE
About Jorge
Jorge Sanchez Bautista is a student leader, community organizer, and long-time educational advocate. He first became involved in 2017, when gentrification and rent spikes hit his neighborhood, Cully. He became part of the Normandy apartments movement in 2017 as a 10 year old with his family, friends, and neighbors. Since then, Jorge has been fighting for social issues including climate change, transportation equity, gun violence prevention, educational funding, police accountability, and more.
As a son of immigrants, Hispanic, Indigenous, a youth, and a Queer individual, he hopes to bring the voices of underserved communities to the PPS Board. With experience passing legislative bills, advocating for change, and being a student in Portland Public Schools all of his life, he is ready to bring change and advocate for all.
