Join Jorge’s campaign to bring the youth voice to the Portland Public School Board
PRIORITIES
PRIORITIES
What I Am Fighting For
1. Equitable & Inclusive Schools
2. Strengthening Community Engagement
3. Accountability & Financial Stewardship
4. Academic Achievement
“As a student for the past twelve years in Portland Public Schools (PPS), I have seen and heard the challenges that our students, educators, and families face.
We need leaders who have the experience of what our students are facing when making decisions, involve our community and partners, and hold others accountable. Students should be prioritized over profits and we must ensure every decision being made benefits our students.
Through my conversations with parents, administrators, educators, classified staff, community partners, and especially our students, I see these priorities as a reflection of what is needed in our schools.”

MEET JORGE
MEET JORGE
Meet Jorge
Jorge is a student, organizer, and long-time educational advocate. He first became socially involved in 2017, when gentrification and rent spikes hit his NE neighborhood, Cully. He, alongside his family, friends, and neighbors, became part of the Normandy apartments march in 2017 at 10 years old to fight back against folks who were putting profits over people.
Since then, Jorge has been fighting for social issues such as climate change, transportation equity, gun violence prevention, educational funding, police accountability, and so much more. He has been in the fight to create change for the past 8 years and he continues to show up for working families, his fellow peers, his community, and those that aren’t brought to the table. He brings the lived experiences of being a student, sitting on many advisory and non-profit boards, passing legislation, and working with unions. All this has motivated Jorge to run to bring his community together, be an active listener, and collaborate to ensure we are putting students first.
